Journalism Insights
Having worked in a range of senior roles at Sky News, I know intimately how a multi-media newsroom works. I once wrote the Sky News guide to both TV production and TV news-gathering. I can give insights to anyone who needs it. I can talk about journalism and I can train. I am also well versed in compliance, legal issues, and Ofcom regulation. I'm always happy to explain "due impartiality" to anyone who wants to know!
Media Training
I have helped many TV correspondents and reporters to improve their skills. I can coach people on how to use pictures, how to write to them, how to construct their reports, and use of sound, graphics and interviewees. I can work with reporters and presenters about the performative aspects of their role. I can also advise generally on writing news stories and creating content on all platforms. I am also well versed in the moral, legal and compliance issues facing journalists today.
Writing
I write about news journalism and the news landscape. But I also write about culture, arts, music, food and travel, and you'll find me doing so on my blog. I have visited more than fifty countries for both work and pleasure. I can also find the best way of mounting an argument or a case that someone wants to put forward in a clear and compelling way.
